Recommendations from Coaches

California Women's Swimming Head Coach Teri McKeever writes what Silver meant to her program

Dear USA Swimming,

From 2004-2008, I had the opportunity to coach Emily Silver at the University of California, Berkeley.  Emily's accolades and awards are extensive and impressive.  But what stands out more to me is the huge impact she made on both the CAL Bears and on me as a coach.

Emily is an outgoing and enthusiastic person.  She invigorates a room the minutes she sets foot inside.  She has a certain energy about life that makes her special to be around.  As such, she was nominated to be our team captain for the 2007-2008 season.  She is a natural leader and took the role of a team captain with confidence and excitement.

Emily made a significant impact on me as a coach.  In terms of personality and behavior, Emily and I are very different.  Emily is more extroverted and playful and I am more introverted and serious.  Emily helped to teach me how to coach people who are different than I.  She proved that having a number of different kinds of people comprise a team can truly enrich the environment.

It is with excitement that I recommend Emily Silver for the position of Athlete Relationship Manager with USA Swimming.

Sincerely,
Teri McKeever
